Hey all.
I went to this yesterday and it was a fantastic day!
I ended up seeing quite a few amazing acts such as:
Missy Higgins (I know... fancy her being there too!!)
Beautiful Girls
Sarah McLaughlan
REM
Bright Eyes
Mia Dyson
Gomez
Michael Franti and Spearhead
plus many more
It was an awesome day, and Missy was fantastic as per usual.
I took a couple of photos and I recorded "The Special Two" on video - all will be put up in the multimedia section shortly!
It was good seeing Missy again! I cant say that anything has changed, except she has changed her casualty rendition at the end.. as well as being REALLY enthusiasti, she grabbed her foot and started banging it on the keyboard whilst shaking her hands in the air! hahahahah what a cack up!
It was a great day overall and great gig. The whole crew were fantastic!
I know some other forum members were there - Kels, Peewee, Surealist, spookylovemouse, cactus...
Good to meet up with most of you... feel free to post on how your day was!
:)

It was a great day and Missy was fantastic and full of energy as usual.
I was up the back with the folding chair brigade and heard so many people being amazed at how good Missy is live.
My daughter, who is four and a HUGE Missy fan, was soooo excited, she couldn't decide which was her favourite song....................but I think she decided on Scar and Cup of Tea (which is actually Casuality)
Hope everyone else who went had an awesome time.
PS...................REM were fantastic too.

from what I remember she played mostly songs from her album aswell as Under the Milky way, Unbroken and beautiful mind.

Missy was fucking awesome as usual - plus I caught a couple of songs from Michael Franti and Spearhead and they fully kicked my ass also.
Did anyone get a chance to see Lisa Hunt? I saw her a little bit when I was wandering around during REM's set (who were also pretty good.) But Lisa Hunt was this big African American woman with an amazing voice doing old soul covers - I caught her doing Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay and My Girl, really great stuff.
But the act of the night for me was Mia Dyson for sure. Second time I saw her, also get to meet her (for the second time as well :)) and all I can say is I am definitely a huge fan now, I bought both her CDs and they are absolutely amazing. Check her out if you get the chance, I promise you will not be sorry.

Mia was great... I couldnt see her for long, as I had to go somewhere else.. but the slide guitar was good!
I reakon if i was drinkin and possibly smokin and not worrying about transport etc, then i would have been one of those ppl wandering around not knowing what they were doing!
It was a great day! Must go again next time! I say they get Xavier Rudd there next time too - when Missy is playing!
Also, yes that was gig 1 of the 12 gigs... im thinking i should do a countdown in my avatar! :)

Twas a good day yiiis. My highlight was definitely Michael Franti...now that guy knows how to put on a show!!! The crowd was going nuts. I saw a bit of George Clinton too and that crowd was crazy as well. REM and Sarah were great too and of course Missy. That's actually the first time I've seen her all year so was goooood.
I heard they're talking about finding a new venue for next year cuz it's too packed. It's just impossible to get even remotely close unless you get in hours before. And the claustrophobia and the back and legs pain arrrgh lol. Oh and being tall drives me crazy let me tell you. If you were up the front for Sarah you might remember me as the guy up front blocking everyone's view haha. It was heaps of fun in between acts though with all the stoners haha.
Good to catch up with some of the crew again. You disappeared Shemelly! Was great too meet Kels again...this time with her fkn awesome new hairdo! :D You'll have to see the Shane pic Kels. ;) Anyway you made REM less boring in the songs I didn't know so thank you haha.
Next year I'm going all five days fo sure. I recommend it to everyone.

Hmmm did i already post and say I bought a lap steel guitar today? If i didn't then there u go. I bought one! After seeing Mia Dyson work that thing for the 2nd time live.. I had to go out and get one. She's bloody brilliant! There aren't many females out there that play bluesy... lap steel ya know what I mean.
I can play one basic song so far. Pleasure and Pain by Ben Harper

theres a lot of controversy areound that new venue stuff... next yr its definietly NOT at the same place... there thinking of building permanent stadiums etc set to hold 4x as many people out near tyagarah... but theres a LOT of local opposition to this... simply because of all the power and water and sewerage and stuff its gunna need

Byron would never have a permanent stadium. It just doesn't fit in with the overall vibe of the place.
