Calling all Melbournites!!! :D

Any ideas for meeting-up b4 the shows?
I'm going to both nights, and so is Shenelle.

Who's going to what nights and where do you wanna meet?

St Kilda will be packed and it'll be fine if the weather's ok and we can sit outdoors somewhere, but if its raining, it can get pretty crowded inside the pubs and cafes.

Any suggestions? :D

:) :D :)

"Oh, yeah... And tell 'em MISSY lives here!"
:) :D :)

I'm sure Shenelle will make herself readily recognizable ( ) and we can sms to let each other know where we are outside the theatre if ppl don't want to meet-up before the show, (which *could* be a bit tricky for some.)

Hope to see u there!

Excellent!!! :) We'll all meet b4 the show anyway and you'll be so blown away by Missy's performance during the show, it won't matter that you're not standing with ppl you know!
You might have the advantage 'cos u can go totally mental during the show and noone will know you so it won't matter!

The ppl at the Palais are pretty good! Much nicer talking to a person then to the robots at Ticketek!

Anyway, glad u got ur tics! Cya next Saturday! :D

hey everyone - im new to this forum but a HUGE fan of thee Missy Higgins! as all of you are as well. I have been trying to get tickets (2 cos my parents say im not allowed to go by myself) to one of her show in melb - cos i am a melb girl :D (we ROCK :D *thumbs up!*) if anyone knows how to get tickets please tell me! i have called that ticketmaster7 thingy and they said they are sold out. i have been on eBay but they are really really expensive...so you if you could help me out i would really really appreciate it! thanks, and hopefully i will get to know most of you :D

I have been trying to get tickets

Hi motey! :) Welcome to the forum!

Missy's site doesn't list either show as being sold out, but perhaps it hasn't been up-dated yet.

Your best bet is to ring the Palais Theatre directly. I *think* they've got a web-site with their number, otherwise, 'go vintage' and look it up in the phone book!

Best of luck! :)
Let us know if you get them!

i just wish missy would put another show on! just one more, thats all i ask...im so desperate to go! *sigh* thanks lily for the suggestion of calling the palais..next time i will definetly call them earlier!

motey that sucks, on some other thread i think i told ya to ring the palais... seems its too late.

They would of been better to call in the first place, like i said in the other thread.. i only got my tickets about a week ago from directly the palais, but they only had a couple tix left which wernt together, hence why i'll be by myself :( (lol who uses the word hence these days?)

Dont worry she'll be back im sure :D it will make the next time you see her even better because you'll want it so much. I wish she would put another show on aswell so i could get some better seats and go with some friends, but uhh well... she's a busy girl.

hey guys I just went to the Melbourne Palais Fri 22nd gig and it was great! She was happy to be back in melbourne and told us her whole family was there watching her. She played a few songs with her bro and one with her dad he was pretty nervous first time he has played the piano in ages and he made a mistake at the start poor man. Anyways she played all the songs of her album except 'they weren't there' I dunno why. She also played too much for one bed, peachy, some other song with her brother I think it was called 'I like your smell'? hehe yeah the cover for 'you only like me coz i"m good in bed', umm what else leave a note and ahh I forget the other song but it was really good too. So anyways overall awesome concert missy sings great live so much passion and energy.

Have fun people goin to tomorrows gig Im sure it'll be as great!...bye!

Brilliant concert! You forgot one song though Storm Gal... She sung Cry Me A River with David, it was fantastic! During his song (I want to write a song about your smell?!") Missy jumped up on top of the grand piano, lying across it, kicking her legs in the air! hehe ;)
I shot the first three songs from the front (that was all we were allowed for media) and unfortunatly those songs were all Missy on piano, so no guitar shots... still, I shot a few films in that time so i'll post some of the pics soon.
The show was fantastic though... certainly the most fun I've seen Missy having in 4 years of gigs! Enjoy tonight guys!

Well I think people have summed it up already....last night was amazing!!
My favourites definitely Hold Me Tight and Peachy. I took heaps of photos so will post them when I get the chance.
And I get to do it all again tonight! :D
I Wanna Write you a Song About Your Smell was so much fun... I think she was so excited about having the grand piano. She seemed like she was having such a great time....good on ya Missy!!!!

Hey there,

I was also at the Palais gig also ast nite. This is about the 10th time Ive seen Missy since first seeing her in Jan 2004 at Manchester lane. It was great concert and I absolutely adore the girl, however I was a bit dissapointed how her Piano was set up on stage, i saw the back of her for most of the nite even though I was about 12 rows from the front.... I need to see her face when she sings!!! ! lol. Other than that though it was awesome gig.. Was dissapointed that she didnt play "they werent there" as this is my fav... be intersted to hear others views... cheers :)

Yeah I agree jaystar They Weren't There is one of my favourites too.
I think I must have been on the same side as you. I could see the side of her face and she did turn towards the audience a bit which wasn't too bad but I like it when she has her usual piano set up cos you can see her front on. I was thinking that if I was any further to the side I would've been a bit annoyed so I see where you're coming from

Hey everyone the Melbourne gig last night was amazing.....

She was fantastic, I loved it so much! :p

I loved the arrangement for Peachy, and Any Day Now was breathtaking - just her, the piano and the cello. I also really liked the bongos in Katie, and Cry Me A River really showed off her vocal range!

How funny was 'I want to write a song about your smell'!?!? It was so cool when she was lying on the piano, she's got such a great sense of humour! :D

We were so lucky - we got Hold Me Tight, and her dad played the piano for it. I love that song!

Cactus was so awesome too, she got everyone to stand up and run to the front, which was great coz we were right up the back and I got to see her much closer! I'm even more pumped for tonight!! Third Row for me!!! YaY!!!! :D :D :D

It was so funny, her brother was playing the piano and she was singing with the microphone and walking around the stage. Then she decided to hop up onto the piano and sit there and sing, then she lay down and put her arms in the air and stuff while she sang. It was hilarious! lol :D

it was awesome, she just walked out without a word and sat at the piano and started playing an intro to nightminds, so i didn't recognise it straight away but then came "...just lay it all down..." yep that set me right off
Also Leave a Note is a guaranteed crying song...well for me anyway :)

Wow, haven't been on this board for yonks, sorry about going MIA on you all...

I was at the concert last night and it was stellar! Two encores and I still wanted more :D The house was packed to the rafters and it's such a beautiful venue to play too (something Missy said [not verbatim]: "It's a dream come true to play in such a beautiful theatre" and "Thanks for making my dreams come true"). She had a great time, and I loved how into the songs she was with her feet tapping all over the place when she could in true Missy style :) Serena Ryder and David Ross MacDonald were brilliant, I snapped up all their CDs after the night was over - would've liked to have gone to see Serena play The Espy but couldn't get a lift home from it. Security was slack on cameras so don't worry about your gear getting confiscated and what not - I took a few video clips and a bunch of photos, but I was sitting in Row G of the Lounge (upstairs) area, and my camera isn't that stellar so they didn't come out so clear. Once I get them uploaded to the comp I'll post them here.

The extent of my Missy obsession hit me when I recognised Missy's guitar from all the way in the lounge...I said to my friend as the stage crew brought it out that it was Missy's guitar, then Serena played it and I thought my judgment was a bit off, but when she broke a string, she mentioned she'd been playing Missy's guitar for this whole tour because she preferred it to her own and then I was pleasantly surprised and a little embarrassed too...the forum capo was the giveaway hehehe.

Lol. I think she broke a string at the last show at the Enmore, it was pretty funny. Perhaps its a bad habit of hers :p
Hehe, maybe she's being a bit rock 'n' roll ;) Serena is an impressive performer - sung three songs a capella - something about melancholy blue(s) (her opening song), "Sing Sing" and "At Last". "At Last" was funny because she started it off on the wrong key and then sung something along the lines of: "At Last....I started this song off in the wrong key..." and she sung a few more lines about needing to play her guitar to get the right and so on hehe.

James: yeah school has been taking its toll big time, so I have just been taking time out of everything to get my priorities back in order. Wouldn't have traded last night for the world though ;) Wish I was going again tonight, it was close to indescribable the mixture of feelings I felt...so proud and happy for Missy and totally stoked I lost my Missy-ginity on such a great night :)

Jacquie
23-04-2005, 05:32 PM
Oh forgot to add - one of the coolest things of the night was right before she went to play "Leave A Note". She asked for the house lights to be dimmed and the spot on her to dimmed as well...whispering that this particular song needed "darkness". Someone yelled out "Missy I'm Pregnant" and everyone laughed...Missy stopped midway through her intro because she heard people laughing and said "What? I heard something about 'up' and 'dress'? Argh I can't play this song now!" So she took a few more moments to settle herself again and it was the most surreal feeling because the whole audience was pin-drop silent. I didn't even want to breathe for fear of breaking the silence, and it was so beautiful...just hearing her pluck that guitar so gently and hearing her voice wash over it all. Up until that point the night had been quite full of screaming and cheering, but after that particular song, the cheering was this roar of claps in respect, in awe, in astonishment - definitely a major highlight of the night. :)

storm_gal
23-04-2005, 05:47 PM
I agree Jacquie it was awesome the presence felt by her voice on leave a note, I was kind of annoyed at that person who yelled " missy I'm pregnant" like shut up already and let her get on with the song they yelled it out twice like before or after as well. Anyways ure right about the silence I felt like not moving at all incase i made a noise.

I went to the concert last night and had such a great time!
The night had a bit of a rocky start, losing the car keys, dropping money down the side of my seat, seeing how fugly the back of The Palais is, etc.
I met Shenelle briefly, she was sitting outside and I just went up to her and said, "Hi, I'm Fifteen" I didn't get to talk to her for very long.
I bought the red Missy tshirt and both the tour posters.
Both David Ross McDonald and Serena Ryder were really good, but my Mum was laughing at Serena's moves. And I couldn't believe it when she said she'd broken the string on Missy's guitar!
I was in the second row from the front, and when Missy came on stage and sat at the piano I realised I was in a direct line to her! She looked so gorgeous I was just staring at her (and taking a few pics of course)
I loved her chatting between songs, especially the intro to The River, "This is a song that my sick mind thought up one night when I was lying in bed, its about a girl who runs away, finds a river and goes for a little...swim" with the swimming action, lol!
The highlights for me were Cry Me A River, I Would Write a Song About Your Smell with the awesome dancing and getting up on the piano, which I have about 6 photos of and The Cactus That Found the Beat where I was right up against the stage and extremely pissed off that I had already run out of film.
I am a very lucky number because not only did I get a set list from the stage but, after the concert, my Mum and I waited outside the stage door in the freezing cold for about half an hour and Missy came out!! I got the picture on the inside of The Missy Higgins EP signed, and I think I freaked her out a bit cos I was standing really close to her, I was trying to see what she was writing on this other guy's poster. I STOOD NEXT TO MISSY HIGGINS!! I can conferm that she has the top of her left ear pierced cos I was right up close and saw it! I was so, so pissed off that I had no film, but I guess after what I got, I shouldn't have any regrets.
It was one of the most amazing nights of my life.

i think the "yeah that's what your girlfriend said" is referring to the guy's girlfriend....like the guy that likes her cause she's good in bed...

but still, i guess it does sound a bit suss :)

It's a weird feeling when tours come to an end, especially since we probably won't have another opportunity to see Missy on tour for a while after this...I'm glad she's getting out there and showing her stuffs to the world though, because everyone deserves to see and hear and feel how talented she is...she's amazing :D

Well, that was my first missy concert..... and it was... AWESOME.

Her bro played some piano aswell as her dad, the crowd was going off blah blah that kinda stuff,

After she sang "you just like me cause im good in bed.." she said something like, " Nt really, im bloody terrific!!" (think that was it?) haha was funny.. ;)

she talked alot after all the songs and before them, which is awesome.. i hate going to concerts where all the band/singer does is sing.. and maybe say one or two lines between each.
Its good to know what the song means and who its about etc.. which she told us on most songs.

She was very open to us lol, she kinda snorted once lol :p and later said "oh i got a wredgy" (sp?)

pretty funny, she really looked like she had fun (as she probably does in most gigs) but maybe because this was her last in australia for a while she enjoyed it even more.

im offically OBSESSED after seeing her :D:D i wanna see her again dammit :(

oh and i might add some pics??? alot of people took em, so i might not need to.. but we'll see.. alright

Oh wow such an awesome night last night!

I was really lucky.... 3rd row and just to the left of the stage.... she was soooooo close!

I can't believe she did 'Dancing Dirt Into The Snow' AND 'Blind Winter'!!!! I really love both of them and I couldn't believe it when she opened with dancing dirt!!! :D :D

Me and my friend were hyper, we yelled out together 'we love you dave' to the first support act and he said 'i love you too'!

It was my friend's first concert so that was pretty special, and at the end when she did cactus we were right at the stage!!! Wow and to top everyting off I got the setlist!!! I was so jealous of the girl who got it on Friday that I took a photo of it.... lol :p But now I have my own!!!!! :D :D :D

I don't need to say much more about last night's show... everyone knows it was amazing.
My favourites were Peachy and of course I Wanna Write A Song About Your Smell cos it's so cute when she dances :)
I'm kinda sad now... I just want her to continue touring Australia and never leave us...hehe

Oh and some drunken man almost ruined Greed For your Love for me as he was yelling things out and dancing on the isle. So glad he was thrown out!
It's only fair they now release a DVD for all of us Aussies to have whilst she's overseas
What was it that Dave threw out into the crowd at the very end???? Anyone know?

At the end of Cactus someone from the crowd threw a teddy bear onto the piano and Dave threw it back into the crowd....

 How Good was that!!! :D :) :D

I luv reading through all these posts because it helps to relive the night!!!

She was totally amazing!!!

She said three or four times, and then again..."I know I've said this already guys, but playing here is like a dream come true!" She said that she's always dreamed of playing The Palais!

Biggest crack-up of last night...

It was after a number on the piano...(Can't remember which one - anyone else know?)
She was really happy and excited because she said that it's the first time that she's ever performed on a grand piano! She just asked the theatre and they ageed! She laughed and said , "so I'll have to start asking for more things!"
Anyway, she gets up from the piano stool, starts walking across to center-stage and suddenly breaks into this weird dance...and we're all thinking...what the?...and she's sorta giggling and then explains... "wedgie!" The audience totally cracked up!!! It was hilarious!

Her lying on the piano singing Cry Me A River to Dave's playing was fantastic! The first night, she was wearing a little dress over black tights and tan boots and we're just waiting for her dress to go flying up as she's lying back kicking her legs up...(didn't happen but! ;) ) and then last night she had jeans and an awesome top with sequins on it and the same tan boots. She said that her sister dressed her! Can't wait to see if anyone got pics of her outfits.

You could just see that she was having a ball!
And when they did 'You just like me cos I'm good in bed' and she laughs and says..."I'm not really good in bed...I'm fantastic! And the audience roared! Haha - her grandmothers were sitting across the aisle from me, and I was thinking..."Betcha haven't seen *this* side of Missy before!"

And when Missy' closed the second encore with 'Cactus ...' and told everyone to come forward and dance, it nearly made up for the fact that everyone had sat rigid in their seats for most of the show. (or it just seemed like they had from where I was sitting!)

Last night, she got a standing ovation! I haven't seen that for a long time at the Palais!
She so totally earned it!

Sorry bout being band-width hog! Can't wait to hear other ppl's reports! We need to fill in the gaps so we can all remember the funny things that she said and did, and other features of her performance.

Man... We were totally spoilt!!! :D

Thankyou!
He was sitting next to my best friend and he stank so s o bad that she got up and told the security guard to get rid of him.
He was horrible - ruining it for everyone around him.
But then the people behind us were giving us a hard time saying that the guy was just having fun.
Turning up pissed as a fart to a concert and making a fool of yourself isn't my kind of fun.

That would have made me so angry what those ppl said. They're obviously not interested in sitting back and listening to MIssy and Missy only bocause when that man started screaming things out in the middle of her songs all you could hear was him... and then the dancing..oh don't get me started  Tell your friend I said a huge thank you on behalf of everyone in The Lounge!!!!!! :) She rocks!

Yeh cutes right :p . I think she was just blowing kisses, but she had said it was emotional because it was her last show. Who knows. That one so far is my fav pic, mainly because its alot clearer than most of the others ive looked at so far. Im pretty sure thats her dad behind her on the left.

That pic was taken just as she was walking off to HUGE cheers from us and EVERYONE was on their feet. it was amazing. Just about the best concert ive been too (ACDC probably just in front.. ) but it felt we were so close to her and it more an intimite show. I was happy people wernt really singing along (well not loud) we sat there and sang a lil for the popular songs like scar, special two and ten days but really we just sat there listen'd to missy work her magic.

The palais also helps with the closeness kinda atmosphere.. I love that theater! :D

You're lucky cam, you sound like you got a good crowd.
At the Friday show I was getting really pissed off at the people sitting in front of me in the FRONT ROW, who were just sitting there looking like they were watching TV at home or something.
Then I had really rude annoying people behind me who talked and their phone went off twice.
I was losing faith a bit because no one seemed to be really enjoying themselves and getting into it, I looked around and saw one group of people singing along in the middle during Scar I think it was, but I was really dissappointed in the crowd.
At least they cheered enough so that we got two encores.

in brissy 2003... it was during one of the quieter songs & someones phone rang near the front...
john heard it & said "let me talk to them" & they threw their phone up on stage :) haha...

"hows it goin? hello hows it goin... hello can ya hear me?! this is john"
*crowd goes nuts* john interupts... "you guys im on the phone! keep it
down for sec!"

good good... its all going good im just kinda ya'know, what the fuck are
you doing calling my friend while we're at a gig man. haha im just giving
you shit its cool... ok well have a good night, sleep tight & um we'll see you
next time... bye! ***hangs up***

*john impersonating the person that just called him*
"john butlers a dickhead man... fuck man what a condescending
sarcastic prick"

"ok so i was just wondering, now that we've had this conversation
& everything maybe you can turn your fucking phones off?" *crowd laughs*

lol :D

yes, yes.... i was bored & i have a recording of the gig so i thought id tell the whole story.
