hi everyone...
im a huge missy fan from the 'all for believin' days and special two used to be my favourite song...does anybody agree with me that the album version is a bit weak compared to the ep version? its not as raw...a bit soft with back up singers...!!!?

I agree with you about the album version of the special two not being quite as good as the EP version... actually, I really like the raw recording a lot better. The drums tend to make the song sound a little too mechanical and they also take a little bit of of the connection away that missy has with the piano when it's played acoustically - the produced sound also tends to normalize the natural variation in volume that would be there in more raw versions... although I do think the drums fit nicely in 10 days... it just depends on the song I think - maybe it has something to do with the fact that we first heard the special two without percussion so it's a little weird? Dunno but it just doesn't seem quite as breathtaking to me..

I can understand where you're coming from, but I heard the album version before the EP version so of course I prefer it. Pretty much whichever version of a song you hear first (provided you listen to it a lot) you will prefer to any subsequent version.
I do like the rawness of the EP version but the album version gives a clearer, more refined sound to her voice, which sends shivers up my spine and gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. When she sings 'but I will fight for you' in the album version it just intoxicates me, even if it has been slightly manufactured.

oh, i fully agree. I detest the album version. The overdone backup vocals and cheesy drumming just took the punch out of it, don't you think? Missy really doesn't need all these extra instruments to add to her sound, i really think she has a full sound with just her and her guitar or piano.
