I think I found that page on Google, I don't know - I just got really into Missy this weekend and have been totally exhausting Google trying to find out everything I can lol.

I don't know if she will ever get very big here, If you look on our top 40 chart for the past few years you'il find a vast majoraty of hiphop and the like.
I think the the highest up the chart Missy got with Scar was about 18 or 16. :(

Note when i say 'our' I don't intentionally include myself and I am not proud that the music taste here is lacking recently.

I stumbled across it by accident! I must have visited Missys site a hundred times before realising that the forum was infact in the links section. im wondering whether im just clueless or whether the forum could have been given better exposure? I mean i understand completely why the missyhiggins.com site administrators as well as eleven would want to seperate themselves frm the forum (ie legalities) but blahh surely some better exposure can be granted. Oh and also, whilst im in full cry I dont understand why there has to be two separate forums... Lets bring all the Missy fans together :):):)

Cheyne, there doesnt have to be 2 forums. I think there are 3 infact. Basically i will explain it to you.

This was the 1st Missy Higgins forum created. The creator of the Special two forum created their one, as they didnt know that there was another one, so they thought they would create one. Alot of hard work, time and money goes into starting up a forum and keeping it running. Im not sure about the 3rd forum, ive never heard from them. So, basically, nobody wants to give up their forum and because of how much time and effort and money they have put into it. Thats why there is more than 1 forum.

U get it? Id like to have one forum, but i know im not going to ditch all my hard work and effort, and personally i really like this forum the best, and not only cos im biased. So im not giving up this forum, and i think you would have a hard time convincing the others to give up their forum also.

I saw her last week open for Jason Mraz in Kansas City, USA I was completely entranced by her talent and style, and voice. I got to go up and say hi to her afterwards and buy her cd. That's when I got online and googled her and found this site. Never heard of her in the U.S. Is she popular in Australia, on the radio a lot and mtv, etc??
is she popular in australia?? lol. HECK YES. her album was in the top 10 for like a year, she is nominated for 7 ARIA awards (like your grammys), she won a songwriting award for song of the year, god i could go on all day.

so yeah she's hell popular over here :)

Wow! I can't believe that! I guess I can because she was so good, it is wierd how she is so popular in one country and opening for jason mraz in another, and no one knew of her, there were only a few people in line to meet her after she performed. I asked her if her and the girl (i'm guessing her manager) if they were sisters, she said they get that a lot and they weren't. She signed my cd. She probably hated being in U.S. because of no one knowing her! That's funny. I wonder if she will make it that big over here?
hahaha. god i wish i could go to the US and see her perform in an intimate setting. over here when she does her tour in October she's going to be playing to an expected crowd of 20,000 in sydney. argh.
and i doubt she hated being in the US. it's probably refreshing for her to not be recognised and have people running up to her all like "OmG mIsSy i LoVe YoU!!1!".
but yeah *fingers crossed* she makes it big over there. or not... don't want her spending too much time over there haha. :)

I hope she does well, but I dont want her spending all her time over there! then again, it may be good - give me time to save for gigs.

She enjoys having smaller intimate gigs! It keeps things real for her and keeps her grounded! Its good! Enjoy them while they last, soon they will be sell out concerts!

now now. the other forum is pretty cool too and theyre hard work should be acknowledged. the reason i prefer this one tho is i think everone clicks and most of us know one another and also the forums been done up quite a bit of late. but both forums r good. missy is worth all the forums she gets.

We did the Melbourne trip with Lori (former Admin of "the other forum") and her husband.

Even tho she is/was the head of "the other forum" - she is still a really great chick! We had a great time! Id do it again!

She was kind enough to let 3 girls she had never met come over to her house and crash. Despite the fact that we are all from ".org".

Shes a real champ! Thanks Lori! :)

P.S - shes really funny when shes drunk! We will have to save the kareoke for next time Lorz :p

yeah Lori is pretty cool, I've only ever been to that board once or twice, I think I found this one first (thru google btw... since that is what this threead is about :p ) and it just seemed bigger and better the the other one... sorry Lorz, but yeah its still all good.

Hey I found this forum on her official website. I joined after I saw her live recently. I have always loved her music but I'm not usually much of a crazy fan but Missy just brings that out of you I guess.

I've just registered, so i wanted to say hi. I found out about this forum on the TeganAndsara.CA forum and i followed the link that Lozzy left there.
I've only registered here now but i've started searching for Missy Higgins info a couple weeks ago and i went to her site and myspace and i've been listening to her music and well...she's got one more fan. :D
So i'll continue showing her music to my friends and trying to spread her music here in Portugal. ;)

Well, answering GoTheHiggsta question about how well known is Missy Higgins in Portugal...i've never heard about her here and i've searched for her cd online on a music store (FNAC) that has all different kinds of music and i did'nt find her cd there. But amazon.co.uk has it so i'm gonna buy it there. But even Tegan and Sara i've never heard in any radio station here, and there are a few radio programs that play not so well known music. Silverchair for example is a well known Australian Band here and i've been a fan since several years ago.
I love music (not all kind of music i have my preferences...) and i love discovering new bands that i like. There are some cool bands out there that we don't know about and when we do it's like whow... this band existed and i didn't know about it until now.

To SEVEN:

Unfortunally the closest she's going to be to Portugal is in England, London in June...If i could i would go there, but i can't in June :(
I have some friends in London and i already told them about her concerts. :)

Every country has it's "trademark yelling". In Portugal it's "olé...olé olé olé, etc" or Por-tu-gal clap clap clap Por-tu-gal clap clap clap .

Yep...there are a lot of artists that come to Portugal and not just the ones that are famous. Also in the summer festivals that we have usually there are a lot of not so well known bands, most of them Indie/Alternative.
But i'm sure that if the radio stations started playing Missy's music she would get lots of fans here. I'm gonna see how the musical suggestions to the radio stations work to see if i can do something to let them know about her music...i can try. :)

The multimedia section is great. I downloaded some videos this weekend, the ARIAS 2005 and SBC Blue Room but when i went there again yesterday i couldn't upload other videos because it shows up like saving .htm Document on the links for the videos. I think it has something to do with my browser...but i didn't find out what's wrong yet...so those were all the videos i could upload. :confused:
