ImageReady comes bundled with Photoshop is probably why most people use it. There are definitely much better Gif Animators out there. Personally I haven't delved into it much. My friend swears Paintshop Pro is the easiest but I never liked PSP cuz I'm a PSer. Ulead Gif Animator, like Rockabilly suggested, is one I've heard a lot about when it comes to simple gif animation like avatars.

My suggestion is ask someone who has one on this forum. I could help you but I've only ever done it once so I'd have to teach myself again, so you're better off finding a guru. Or you could just search for a tutorial, there's bound to be so many.

Paintshop pro is a crock of shit. I'm a Photoshop kid too. I tried to use Paintshop for a GIF once...couldn't do it...really couldn't work it out....and i can usually teach myself...it's how i learnt Photoshop.

Ulead Gif Animator is easy and simple....even Gran could get it going....so scout it out!
