You would have probably already seen the 'chat' button on the main forum page...top right.
I've registered a channel on the AustNet IRC network so that you can all chat live with your fellow forum members http://missyhiggins.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Clicking on the button will launch a new browser window containing a Java chat applet . It should automatically connect you to the server with your forum username as your nick. If it doesn't try logging out of the forum and back in again.

If there is already someone on the server with your username (quite possible) then a default nick of 'MissyChatXXX' will be assigned to you where XXX is a random number. You can easily change your nick to something else by using the 'change nick to' box at the bottom right of the chat window.

Hope you all enjoy using it. Let me know if there are any problems.

hmmm ok http://missyhiggins.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
I'm assuming the chat window launched ok, but you couldn't connect to the server?
Was there any sort of message displayed in the window that came up about why it wouldn't connect? If you could cut and paste any info in here, I'll find out what's going on. You might have to scroll up in the chat window to read all of the text. Thanks.

Ok, I've switched it to a European server. That may make a difference...here's hoping.

Austnet does seem to have issues with international connections. I don't know why. I mean the majority of the forum is going to be Australian so it would be preferable to be using a faster local server if there is a way on Austnet or some other Aus mirror.

Yes I was thinking the same but I was in a hurry this morning so I just opted for the easiest and quickest way to get it working, hehe. I'll modify it tonight so you can choose which area of the world you're from so that it will connect to the closest server. http://missyhiggins.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
