I LOVE THE WAIFS!!!!!
Big time!!!
When I spoke to Josh last (p.s i'm just trying to sound like i'm down) which was at Wollongong, they were heading to England to do some gigs.
I have a nice photo of Josh and I. Also have a t-shirt signed by them all afre the blues and roots festival. If you met someone at Blues and roots with a scottish hat that was trying to make you join in a break dancing circle during crazy train, that was me!
YEW!
or WOoT as Lozzy would say!

The Waifs are superb. I reckon A brief history is definately the album to go for, the songs get a new lease of life played live. One of the best live albums I've heard for capturing the atmosphere of a gig. Gutted I missed them when theY were in the UK.

Hey,

I bought another Waifs CD today
So I have Up All Night, A Brief History, The Waifs, and Shelter Me.

Got Shelter Me today, turns out it has a bonus track, another version of Billy Jones!

So there's the Ballad of Billy jones, the jazz version, and the Rap version.. Does anybody know of any other versions? It's such a funny song!

I love Here if you want, Shiny Apple, Spotlight, Haircut, The River, Dont think twice its alright, Lighthouse, Sunflower Man.

Ah they are the best.

which album of theirs is the best?

Cactus
30-07-2005, 05:58 PM
Hey

Well I would say A Brief History is best.

I got up all night a few years back and maybe listened to it once. I really only liked the song 'Lighthouse' at that time.

Then I heard a live version of 'Haircut' a few months back and went straight out and bought a brief history. Saw them at Byron bay. And in the last 3 weeks I have bought the last 3 of their albums.

I also think that Shelter me is a very very good album. I mean they are all great but I really like their slower songs! Like The River, Lest We Forget, Spotlight. which are all on that album. I love Here if You want, Haircut, Lies.

But it all depends. I like there faster songs to like Dont think twice, CRAZY TRAIN, Take it in.
They have heaps of different 'styles'.

Man they are just so brilliant!

so i'm really interested in the artworks that are displayed in Art Express everyear and this year i was amazed to see so many artworks with great aussi musicians as their subject matter. In this case.. here is one that displays the Waifs. it's from this years Art Express exhibition.

Basically this artwork is based on the girl in the middle and her musical influences surround her. I noticed Josh.. and then the rest popped into mind..
so here is a pic of it -

yeah when someone described that particular artwork to me i thought it sounded kinda unoriginal and non-art express worthy. but it looks like she can draw pretty well, so that sorta makes up for lack of imagination i guess.

did you see the artwork that was models of lambs, with the wool made from scraps of girls hair? now that was creative.

I hear you- I love them too. I saw them at the Enmore and they were awesome! I just bought a ticket to the Bimbadgen gig - I was too excited to wait to see if they are playing enmore again. Although I will go to that too!!

I love The Waifs. My Mum and I have seen them twice live now. We seen them once when they were the support act for Keith Urban and we saw their very own tour late last year.

Their music is so relaxing and awesome. :) I enjoy listening to it alot! :):)

i saw them last night they were AWESOME!!!!
we got front row so that was even better but they played sooo well.... the set was really good had old stuff and new they played gillian and take it in which are a couple of my favs.. they also played temptation which i hadnt heard before!
later in the show they came back on with jbt clare bowditch and epicure and sung from little things big things grow- highlight of the night!!!
i love how they interact with the audience!!
hehehe and i think donna liked the talking card thing we made them and she gave me and steph a big wave cos in the card we said to give us a wave....
anyhoo just thought i'd give my wrap of the night and to wrap it up... it was amazing!!!
