Ane Brun has been spoken about a lot lately, and a few of you may have acquired this recently... i wish that i had a review that i could find in english but i havent been fortunate enough to find one as of yet, the album received 4 stars in the sweden's largest newspaper "Aftonbladet", which is awesome
she is from norway, but resides in sweden, she sings in english. she has a folk kind of sound to her i would say. i think she has an enormous amount of talent.
so yeh, share your opinions when you hear the album. cheers :)

i really love that record! my favourite songs on it are "humming one of your songs" (maybe my fav of the both records), "wooden body" and "so you did it again" (which is a cool blues song). btw she called her guitar Morgan, so this explains the title of the record!

ok Review time
I couldnt open the downloaded files (for some god damn reason- but will try again today), so I went to her website.
She is not my cup of tea, but is a talented singer. I think listening to more of her songs, would be better before I passed judgement on her totally, but you were hanging for a review & now you have one.

thats cool noo, keep listening and see what you think. I think that ane is an artist that is like a fine wine... just gets better and better... i think its the case with a lot of singer songwriters, before you love them u gotta give them time and a few listens.
my fave track is probably - so you did it again, i love it.

She has a great voice, not really my sorta music, but i really love You Did It Again, its upbeat, and more sorta catchy if I can say that, i was sitting there tapping my feet the whole way thru, which is generally a good sign, but yea very strong voice, has the talent to do really well!
What I want, is very folky/country to me.
Umm i cant really think of much more, Very very talented, i think i need to listen to it a couple more times to really get a feel for it, but You Did It Again definately the standout song!

ok, so on first listen i thought this album was ok... i was doing something else while listening to it and didn't really notice when one song ended and another started....in other words i thought quite a lot of the songs sounded the same. however, after listening to it another couple of times i really like it and can appreciate the differences between different tracks. i few of my favourite tracks include: Humming One of Your Songs, So You Did It Again, One More Time, and What I Want.
My rating: 7/10

sweet as. and kylie, do give it some more listens, see what you think and what not.
i didnt give it a rating... i find it hard to do, but if i had to, when comparing to all albums ive heard it would be about an 8/10 for that genre of music. maybe edging to an 8.5.
oh and it seems like so you did it again is a real winner :)

ok my review (despite the fact that i only have the first 7 songs(?))
i'm addicted. Wasn't too sure at first but as swede told me, the more u listen to her the more u love her. i absolutely LOVE "are they saying goodbye". Don't ask me y cos i dunno...i guess it appeals to my sense of music but yeah.
I very highly recommend her (i dont like ratin stuff in numbers but so far prob a 7)

last bump up i guess... hope there is some more reviewing here. but if not thats life i guess!
Got some of her stuff from Itunes her voice has a real melancholic quality to it that I really like.
Only had a few listens so far but the tracks that have jumped out for me are, Humming one of your songs and sleeping by the Fryis river. Also love Where friend rhymes with end and My lover will go from the Temporary Dive album. Reckon most fans of Missy, Beth Orton, Damien Rice, Elliot Smith etc should find something to like in Ane's music

ok i'll do my review now.
usually when someone suggests an artist to me and i like em, i obsess over em for like a week and then put them in the back of my wardrobe. ane brun CANNOT BE SHOVED TO THE BACK OF THE WARDROBE!!!!!! i didnt read other peoples review so im not sure exactly what you want but oh well.
i rteally really like temporary dive. like you can play it and just be doing something and not really notice the song cos its not intrusive or anything, just soooooothing, and so yeah, you're just doing something else and being soothed and not really noticign the song and then you just slip into the song, and then you realise you've been sitting there for five minutes (cos its on repeat of course) and just been staring into space....oh is so good. "just to avoid this hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ole"
humming one of your songs is really catchy, cos you end up "walkiiiiinnngggg" along singing or humming her song and its ironic.
i was really obsessed with 'my lover will go' a few weeks ago. like i would be sitting in class counting down til i get to go home and play it its so addictive. and i would be driving and some other song is playing on the radio but ium stiull singing HEYYYY HOOO!!!! MY LOVER WILL GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. tis really good.
i really like headphone silence, although swede told me there was another name for this song...it might be one more time but i dont know cos theres another song in my folder called one more time. i need to organise it lol. but yeah i really like the guitar in this song cos its just all rythmic and stuff and then you're just like DA! dooo DA!!! tis good lol.
yeah since im an emo head i find i like the sadder songs better than the more upbeat ones. 'to let myself go' is good. and the guitar in this is cool as well as her voice oh. so sooothing. 'theres no use telling me, theres no use takin a step back, a step back for me'
um. the song i like least i guess would be 'i shot my heart' but its still good and i guess i like it more cos when i first saw it the filename was SHOT.MP3 and i found that funny. the chorus is good but yeah i dont fancy the versus as much.
that thorough enough? im gonna go read other peoples now.

ok, im not gonna rate this as an album but just as a collection of music cos apparently temporary dive is a separate album.
on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the dance music and 'woo woo's i could hear from down the road last night while trying to get to sleep, and 10 being the early november, i give the ol ane a 9 or a 9.5. shes really tops in my books.
this hoiooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooole

ok, well finally doing it.
after a comprehensive listen to the album, two words spring to mind: "mellow and original".
i was trying to think of another artist i could compare her to, and came up with nothing. so this is probably the most promising sign. her music compliments her voice really well and i think that this is also it's strongest point.
in terms of songs:
(i) are they saying goodbye is clearly my outstanding favourite. im a sucker for acoustic guitar and mellow songs - this song epitomises just that.
(ii) on/off also has this quality also - probably more so. i like the melody. reminds me as if it should be in a movie.
(iii) humming one of ure songs is a favourite for everyone i think. its the opening track and indeed a good intro to the rest of the album.
(iv) shot my heart for some reason i really really like....think its because it's a little more pop/rocky - i dunno. anway, i think it shows her versitility. her voice is so different in this to most of the songs - more edgy.i like it.
(v) wooden body - nice and relaxing....again, love the guitar.
these are the stand-outs to me.
what's interesting about this album is that it can depress you to the bone in one song, yet the next gets u tapping away - either way u feel every song thats played...and that says a lot also.
if i were a music director for film - it would be a perfect album to choose tracks from...for scenes such as: driving along a cliche highway, sex scenes, taking drugs scene, or walking along a rainy street with thousands of ppl rushing by. try and picture this, if not, i sound like a fucking idiot.
this completes my ANE BRUN - 'Spending Time With Morgan' review - 8.25/10

shot katie. soundtracks are topssssssss
yeah ****. swede has been whoring the name ane brun around on this mofo for a long while now. so i finally got my shit together and got her album, thanks to young tomas here. now i must say that it has taken me a while to listen to it. humming one of your songs is a fucking good song and its cheekiness pisses me right off when i am in my car humming the fucking song. 'i just know one small verse in the middle of it, but it makes me wanna hear it on and on and on...' ANE!!! YOU CONNIVING LITTLE WOMAN!! i bet she laughed to herself when she wrote that damn song. it just gets stuck in your head. its a flippen awesome song though. next song- are they saying goodbye? like katie, i am a sucker for acoustic guitar. ane does a good job with morgan here. nice vocal arrangements. great song. i can imagine this song being used in the opening scene of Closer. skip a few songs and start on so you did it again. at my first listen i found the slide guitar part annoying because of its sloppiness. then after a couple more listens i grew to like it. after all, this song is all about being stripped back and raw sounding. its cool when she says 'fuck.' twas a pleasant surprise. next song- one more time. i am listening to it as i type and hadn't payed any attention to it before. its just noice. different. unusual. suits her voice very well, and the lyrics are easy to relate to. headphone silence- really laid back, i could sit in a hammock and listen to this song. ****. what i want is more upbeat and good. sleeping by the fyris river is nice and i really like it. and i am running out of time so that explains why this review gets shitter as you read it. wooden body is fucking cool cos it appears to be about her guitar, morgan. ane and morgan should elope and have weird little human/guitar babies. wait. no. thats wrong. thankyou for reading, ****z. my rating- 8/10

ok so i feel like i was too lazy and im gonna do a more comprehensive review on what i think about this album.... song by song
Humming one of your songs - i have spoken bout this with jen and kels before, how it is quite ironic that you do indeed walk along singing this song, it is deadset catchy. i love it, its an awesome tune and i still havent tired from listening to it, nor any other song for that matter so i will not have to mention that again. other then that, there isnt much to say bout it.
are they saying goodbye? - i too love the acoustic guitar in it. i think its gorgeous (for the lack of a better word for the moment, as im still running from no sleep from the previous night).
on off - again the guitar i find to be awesome, it give me this nice mellow feel like im sitting out on my own somewhere in a secluded place, just chilling and reflecting upon things such as life and what not, i find the lyrics to be very fitting of this.
i shot my heart - kinda picks up the pace of the album a little bit, i think its a good song but definitely not the greatest on the album.
drowning in those eyes - for a song that has limited lyrics, i find it to be awesome. somehow it is moving, the title "drowning in those eyes", i think that most people can relate to that feeling when looking into another's eyes and just be like whoa. yes my thoughts only, but an awesome song in my opinion.
so you did it again - probably my fave on the album, again picking up the pace on the album, it has a nice raw sound on it that i adore. "oh ya" at the start i think is cool, shows they are having fun when playing it and what not, automatically puts me in a good mood. yes, top song
one more time - i think her voice is amazing here. also i think they are lyrics that most of us can relate to, no matter what you want to interpret the song as, because generally speaking you will always try that extra time to see if things will work out different, whether it is relationships, maybe a job... but yeh, i love this song also
headphone silence - dont really wanna go into this song too much but i think it is a brilliant song... thats all i have to say about it... yes that is it
what i want - got a country kinda feel to it, i like it, another lil style she adds in the mix on this album, again bringin the tempo up a little bit. a good song to listen to, and an easy song to sit and listen to and appreciate
sleeping by the fyris river - this song reminds me of sitting on a porch with as she says "in an arm chair with the feet up" kinda just taking in the scenery, and enjoying its bliss nature. the music is soothing and i think helps take you to this place. really cool tune
wooden body - a very cool tune, but there isnt much i have to say about it, other than i think its an enjoyable listen.
but yes, i adore this album, i think i gave it an 8-8.5/10, im probably happy to give it an 8.5/10. love the album and i think she is someone who is gonna be around for a long time, and creating nice tunes. i love how she has a nice raw kind of style and has been able to set about her own lil unique twist on the singer-songwriter genre.
i think thats all i have to say for now.
