Last night was brilliant.
Dan Kelly played for about half an hour over the non-stop chatter of the crowd. I think he was getting a bit pissed off, but with very good reason.

Missy came on and played an awesome set! A couple of new songs were slotted into the set list which was very pleasing http://missyhiggins.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Finishing the encore with the special two. perfect...

So, was anyone here there last night??

here is some random comments about last night

Well my friend and I got there in heaps of time, so we were really close the front ; there was only one other person in front of me. I was in complete awe, how so much energy and amazing vocals comes out of such a little person…

The girls that were standing next to us were a bit annoying; when Dan Kelly came on they were really rude and started talking rubbish about him . Anyway, one of them went to the toilet half way through his set and bumped into Missy in the toilet. OMG I didn’t hear the end of it all night, Id never met this girl before!! She told me that she seen her and said, “you look a lot like Missy Higgins” and missy replied “that’s cause I am” (or something along those lines). The drunk chick then proceeded to exclaim to Missy “oh my god, we just pissed next to each other!!” Anyway, the girl took a picture of the two of them on her phone, then came out and told EVERYONE about it. Also including details like “she is very clean, she washed her hands, with soap, not a lot of ppl do that you know” and what missy was wearing. My friend and I agreed that it was also irritating that they were only interested in the songs that they knew the words to, and talked, well shouted, amongst themselves when missy sang a new song

Umm missy came out on her own first and played a song on the piano, I cant remember which, I think it was all for believing. Then the other band members came out and they sang a whole bunch of songs, some new and some “old”. Then the band members left and missy sang a few songs solo on her guitar, including one that she had “never played live before”, I think it was called “100 round the bends”, and I loved it . Then the band ppl came back out for a few more songs, including the cactus that found the beat, which everyone really got into. They finished with scar, also another very popular one with the crowd. Then after ppl cheered and clapped for long enough missy came back out and sang solo on the piano for one song and then a few more with her band, the last one was the sound of white.

Ok, so I guess I should say something of substance now… . I’m lost for words... she was just amazing...

I too would post a review but Hannahs is more articulate than mine would be. The only thing I have to add is to agree with the others from another tread, last night was dyke central

fompsweeva, missy kept saying that last night was so much better than Wednesday night. what happened when you were there that made it so bad? last night there were some 'technical difficulties' and she said there were more on wednesday, but they way she said it made it sound like there was more to it than that......

Yeah...
she was probably talking about the technical f-ups. There was a fair bit of feedback from the guitars and other tech. stuff like that.
She may be also talking about the (i hope they were) drunk fans constantly, and quite insistantly shouting out 'play the special two'. Interupting her speaking about the first song in the encore i think was taking it way too far. I certainly would have been a little cranky about that so she may have been talking about them. Trust me, if i was near any of them i would have given then a slappin'. http://missyhiggins.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Good to hear you had such a great time!

I went to the Gov on wed - scored my way in with no ticket - had been trying forever to find someone with a ticket they wanted to give up- to no avail...then just scammed way in. Absolutely brilliant live. Pity about the technical problems. I thought the funniest bit of the night was when Missy thought that guy yelled out 'show us your tits' hehehe.

fompsweeva you forgot to mention all the guys yellin out 'show us ur tits' at the beginning of the first gig.

I was lucky enough to be there both nights and i thought she was definetly more comfortable the second night than the first.

Both nights had tech issues, lots of feedback through the whole first night, which they didn't fully resolve for the second although it was no where near as bad. Gotta love the bass drum mic just dying the second night but the band didn't really let it phase em too much

Seemed like the crowd was older the second night and they definetly got into it a lot more, less drunk idiots and more people enjoying the music.

Awesome experience to see her live, hope to see her pack out the Thebby soon!

If I walked into the toilets and saw Missy Higgins, I'd be like... '####, I'm in the chicks toilets.'

Well she did say that she hoped to be back in a year........

A year.... That would mean she probably wouldn't come back to Brisbane for a year either. I can't wait that long. ARGH! What happened to the AA shows early next year?

Told Missy Higgins to shut up? Why do these stupid people go and see her and spoil it for everyone else? It doesn't make any sense.

Michael - what are you talking about 'telling missy to shut up?' i dont understand that comment?!
Missy is supporting the Finn Brothers on their tour in November, so if you want to see her again, there is your chance! Tickets are about $70 in adelaide.

Adelaide - Read JBK's post to make sense of my comment.

I don't like the Finn Brothers, so I would be paying $70 to see Missy Higgins play a shortened set. I don't think it's really worth it. Although I would pay $70 if it was her show and it was going to be a full set.

Ahh i understand now Michael http://missyhiggins.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I like the Finn Bros and will more than likely go to their show...especially as Missy is the guest.
I am hoping she is promoting her album in the UK in march as thats when i am over there..i see she is doing a show in London next month but her site doesnt state exactly when she is releasing the album overseas.

Went to the Wedders gig. Wanted to go to the Thursday evening one too, but it sold out in like a day, which is huge for Adelaide. (We're notorious for waiting til the last minute to buy out a show)

Show was amazing as expected..i've seen live stuff on TV and that, so I was already aware that the kid can sing, and sing well, no matter what the circumstance, and that's a great breathe of fresh air in todays pop charts.

My olds came along at my request, they're really into her now too...their only complaint were some biatches at the back who chatted non stop all night. Why pay for tickets if you wanna gas bag all evening..it ruins it for those who wanna hear.

Anyhow, blown away as expected, and dying to see her again.

Firmly cemented as my second favourite artist of all time.

i often find people talk at shows at the gov....last time i saw tim freedman there he was getting really pissed off - and rightly so. why would you bother going if youre just going to stand there and talk. infact, i dont think i have been to one show at the gov, where the talking at the bar hasnt pissed me or the musician off. it doesnt help with the positioning of the bar being so close to the stage. i havent seen any similar problems at thebby..and i think its cos the bar is outside the theatre, so when you walk in, youre there for the music, as opposed to the drinking side.
is this a problem in other states or are there just ignorant people in adelaide?!!

I only came accross that problem at Byron Bay when Missy performed! We didnt have that problem at any of the Missy gigs here in Brisbane... but I too was annoyed at the ppl talking at the Byron Bay concert! It really does spoil it!

Cheers

The only other artists i've seen at the Gov are The Living End and Skulker, so needless to say talking wasn't an option at either of those gigs!

Ive been to a fair few Whitlams and Tim Freedman gigs at the Gov too, the rare talking is annoying but I find those crowds are usually quite repectful. If not a good verbal shalacking always works http://missyhiggins.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
