Mobile phones...

ok i need some reccommendations on mobile phones.
my contact is up at the end of next month & i want to go on the optus $49 cap.
all i need now is an idea as to what phone is good/reliable etc.

i already know i want a clamshell/flip phone with a camera (i'll have a camera seven...COOKIES!!!)

i see the samsung & LG seem to have funky ones...so yeh anyone got suggestions?

well man, samsungs are good. i got one...a flippy thing. forget its name thou. some E something something. but now the reception keeps f**king up but ive had it for a while. i dunno dude.....just buy something that doesnt make the screen go all gross n sh*t when uve finished talking....oh wait. for that, u need skin cleanser. :o

It's a Nokia 3610. This is not the phone you want leaving by your bedside when you're off to sleep. If someone calls you at 2am, and the phone is sitting there right in front of you, you'll probably be temporarily blinded by the light. If for some reason you have the cover off, YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY BLINDED BY THE BRILLIANT LIGHT.

The light is bloody bright. So it can double as a torch.

Nothing fancy. No polyphonic/real tone stuff. No cameras. It's just a phone. With a blindingly bright light.

Oh yeah. It's sturdy as. I must've dropped it on hard ground like 600 times. Works just as well as the day I got it. Second hand, from someone else who dropped it like 300 times.

yeh i totally agree that nokias are really sturdy and whatever you do to it, it will keep on working. but all i want is a change thats all...just want to try something new cuase ive been using nokias for such a long time.

aso the one i have now, has modd swings when it rains lol. the buttons dont work and it really annoys the hell out of me when that happens. so thats another reason why i want to get a new phone

the more 'features' on a phone isnt all that good, it just means more things can go wrong.
lets take a few examples: my sister bought a phone last year, on a 12 month plan. the fone sucked and stuffed up a few times. she sent it off for repairs. the contract expired as the fone broke, my sister went into shop X said fix this fone again. they advised her its easier just to get another fone, so she did, she got a newer nokia flip, which has stuffed up again, after all of it, they advise her its easier just to buy a new fone.

yes you have a point. more things can go wrong. but these things are quite handy as well.

as for your sister's phone. it is unfortunate she had to go through so much. but as with all technology, whether it be a phone, a computer, a camera, a tv, a stereo...there will be a time well nothing just goes right.

some people like more feature on their phones whereas others enjoy something simple.

as for me, i prefer a couple of extra features here & there.
