well it's a speech on Narrative structure, so just like the actual sound of the song, i.e. techniques with the instruments and missy's singing. eg, the calm music reflects the girl drowning herself in a calm state, when you drown it's a peaceful way to go, so the music reflects that aspect of the storyline etc etc.

Hey there, I’d happily help you with this but am not really sure what you're asking... as you discussing how the style of the song (melodic and lyrical) is representative of the narrative or how the words contain a narrative that give off a style.. (even if they sound like the same thing they aren't, it's about intention, do the words affect the style or the style affect how we understand the words)...

Are you talking about songs?
I'm not sure if I'm the right track .. but to me when music speeds up it could mean something happening in like fast pace ie happiness (excitement), even anger?, and when it slows, its something about something slow .. or calm .. or even sadness. When it gets heavy, could mean anger or rage .. light musical notes could mean love etc ..

I'm thinking more of movies though, kind of like when a horror scene comes along the music gets all freaky sounding .. if you watched a scarey movie without the music it wouldn't be all that scarey.

But again I'm not sure if im on the right track .. good luck with yr speech!!

Thanks a heap, but it's on the style of the song. I'm concentrating on the actual storyling at the moment i.e. young girl running out and suiciding in a river, and how the lines in the song are symbolic of that, but now i have to talk about how the music ITSELF reflects it. But thanks, it's actually due tomorrow *mega panic* :p

It doesn't speed up, but that's a helpful hint, that there is no change to it. :D ta! *hugs you and hands over the cookies* champ!

i did a thing like this for uni last semester. i caned it. just bullsh*t.

there is so much stuff to talk about. i.e.

the soft drum beat is symbolic of her heart beat. the use of the bongo helps bring this out in the song, accentuating its presence, as opposed to the use of a normal snare. the heart beat is important to contrast between life and death, essentially what the song is about. blah blah yada yada 309ekcjdsifus ldfkjsrilftufijeijr eikrjgt;lkrjtrlk;tj. hot.

easy.
