If you haven't had the opportunity to see Ray live, I highly suggest doing so. His music is excellent and it of course just added another element seeing him up there on stage playing his songs. I was fortunate enough that he opened for Dave Matthews Band when I saw them last month and I really enjoyed what I saw of Ray more than I did of DMB.

Performing songs from his 2004 debut album Trouble, Ray's distinctive raspy voice (often likened to that of Van Morrison and Tim Buckley) promises to entrance Australian audiences.
"There’s a certain enjoyment in writing a song, just being by yourself in writing. It’s a whole other thing when you’re performing its like church; it’s a religious thing. It’s like church, it’s sharing, and communicating; that can be a really beautiful thing."
Ray’s music has a timeless quality. He cites his influences as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Ray Charles and Otis Redding. His style could be described as ‘folk’ music, however it may be more aptly described as storytelling with an acoustic guitar. "Music is something that I want to do, that I have to do. I have to do it, it’s the way that I express
myself."
Critics are full of praise for Ray:
“There is something about him that has the potential to make him a bigger name than anybody else in the game right now.” Lumino Magazine
“Imagine, if you will, David Gray were he raised in the wilderness by grizzly bears.” - Herald Sun.
“Every word finds its way out of somewhere way down deep. Every story is lived, experienced and real, almost frighteningly real at points.” – Left Lion
Tickets are on sale from 1ST SEPTEMBER, 9AM
