ok...aunty katie's turn. A COLLECTION OF IOTA BY ME.
(check the STML account for d/l)
this guy is called iota - he's an australian singer/songwriter (not that kind...dont worry), kinda blusey/rootsy/rocky/alternative. u can make ure own mind up about his genre. he has his own band now - "the lizard men" - and they make it hot. he's been around for years btw and his newest shit was released like 2 years ago...an album called "La Caravana"
HIS BIO:
iOTA burst onto the Australian alternative music scene back in 1999 and quickly became a live performer of legendary status netting himself a strong grass-roots following.
Three albums, two ARIA Award nominations and national airplay for 7 singles brought iOTA to the attention of the mainstream media and helped earn him the reputation as one of Australia’s most exciting and promising singer/songwriters.
Ever the chameleon, this year sees major change and growth in store for iOTA. A move to Michael Chugg Management, the formation of a new 4-piece
rock band, iOTA and The Lizard Men, a national tour and the buzz of
excitement around the prospects for the coming months.
It’s only the beginning of an already impressive and colourful career.
check out his site - www.iota.com.au
*avoid looking at him, it takes away from his greatness. ;)
now, this file contains a 'collection' of his stuff, not any particular album. i dont have any of his albums or EPs etc, this is all i could get from his site. its a mix of shit from over the years...ive heard some other of his stuff but it was too hard to get hold of it.
enjoy kids. :)
omg toula. i really like iota, thanks to katie. i am listening to melbourne summer for the first time right now and it must be my 2nd favourite song now. i will do a review as soon as i have listened to it enough. million miles just came onand it is hot as well. iota rulz OmG?!@

I don't always like music on the first listen.
I bought Kid A when it came out. It took me 3 years before I started liking the music.

ok so ive had time to listen, have a think about it, listen, and yada yada yada as it goes on and on.
anyhow, what do i think of it? well i think its cool. a highlight for me is change, im not sure whether its cause they play it better live than in studio or not, but i think its great. his voice reminds me of someone... cant think of who. but i like how there is a change from ur generic acoustic guitar ballads, there is an extra edge to it, as seen in struttin rock rooster. also - pigs is catchy as, i dig it, but i think it would be one of the songs i may like less in the future but damn its easy to get into!
on the whole i enjoy this music, there seems to be some real emotion in it in my view. as i said i think tumble down reminds me a lot of the music in times of trouble by temple of the dog, which is the same music for footsteps by pearl jam. so maybe they have some influence from that direction.
thanks for the music katie, sorry for the ultra late response.
on a total of katies iOTA mix - i give it about a 7/10. one of my fave STML's thus far :) thanks mate
It's taken me a wee while to get the chance to listen to this coz of work interfering with social time again  but I've had this playing in the car for the last coupla days.
This is the beauty of stml as this is probably an album I wouldn't have bought if I'd only heard a song on the radio as it did take a few listens to get under my skin.
I like the raw feel to it not too over produced and also I like the fact that it doesn't sound like anyone else in my collection, similarities in places for sure but it has it's own distinctive style.
The ones that jumped out for me were-- CHANGE, always seem to like the live tracks they seem to have more energy.
PIGS is probably the easiest track to get on the first listen and certainly the one that grabbed my attention quickest the simple catchy structure of the track makes it that bit more accessable.
TRIPLESPOON and MELBOURNE SKY are both good tracks that took me a couple of listens but were well worth the effort.
HOME SONG sounds familiar for some reason but I cant place who it reminds me of sometimes I think it'sthe voice and other times the guitar that I think sounds like someone I know
Tumbledown is quite nice in a gentle sort of way without being outstanding for me.
The other tracks dont really hit it for me all that much ok but not really my thing with POCKETS probably my least favourite at the moment though feel ADDICTED may just grow on me as time goes by.
Overall I would give the selection maybe 6.5 out of 10 an album I'll continue to play with a coupla songs that I can see me putting on playlists of favourite artists.

sweeeeeeet. these repsonses are hot.
drugs are bad mkay. so KATIE! i listened to the WHOLE THING last night, instead of just randomly listening to one song. here is what i think
Melbourne Summer- one of my favourites! i dig this one. i dig iota. his guitar playing is interesting. very energetic
Addicted- OmG!?@ WtF!?@i LOVE this song!!!!!!! especially the solo. thats fun. he's playing with feel here instead of trying to impress people with fast playing. this is what i likes about iota.
Change- my favourite. when i first listened to this song i was like, whattttt, then the vocals came in i was goin, ah ok! then the bass came in and i was like WHOA! its definately a song to get you moving. lol. 'thankyou very much, enjoy your evening'
Home Song- nice. mines buggered though,it only works for 30 seconds. so
Million Miles- he's doin hot rythm guitar yet again in this. noice, different, unusual i must say. but it works well. this is another of my favourites.
pigs is good
pockets is hot
triplespoon- i love it.
blah blah its all hot and i amnot gonna write any more.
thanks katie

ok. here is my review. i listened to this a few times over when i first downloaded it like last month lol, but i havent listened to it since. im listening to it now, and this guys voice still really reminds me of the guy from silence. Home Song sounds like it should be on the almost famous soundtrack. i like it. im not getting impatient and skipping this one. hits me somewhere good. change and addicted were listenable but not really enjoyable for me. perhaps im just not in the mood for this sort of music.
the upbeat songs arent doing it for me. bit boring.
haha pigs is awesome. really easy to get into. i would so play this at a party and get everyone into a jig with this.
hhaha! struttin rock rooster is by far the best track out of these. its hilarious. YEAH!!!! sounds like good intro music for a character lol.
triplespoon sounds really different. i like it. slipping back into silence man voice again. i would play this song while i was cleaning. good song
5/5 for me. im sorry. i love half and i dont love half. not my sorta music, but yeah some songs will continue to play from my speakers...YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH
