She was criticised and put down for being too old, in the UK, to release an album (she's 28). It just shows how bloody shit the Pop genre is in the UK. Anwyay, she showed them and is quite big in the UK.

KT is awesome i heard her a few weeks ago when my guitar teacher was showing me Black Horse And The Cherry Tree, and i have her album. i love all the songs on there but Miniture Disasters is my fave at the moment. :p

Dutchie
01-12-2005, 10:41 AM
You gotta watch her play solo. It is awesome. She has a clip of her playing it on her website (I think Miniature Distasters is also on this clip and another song) She has a little toy she uses and layers herself so that she is her own background band also. I want one!!! Akai Headrush E2. Very nice.... affectionately referred to as Wee Little Bastard.

My fav song of hers this week is Heal Over.

then click on Black Horse and Cherry Tree LIVE in either Hi or Lo depending on your internet connection. This file has 3 songs on it from memory.

enjoy! I did... and bought the album after seeing this

I'm sure that a heap of you guys have heard her stuff, Katie 'kt' tunstall is a Scottish singer-songwriter who's big in the uk and just released "Suddenly i see" here. Her cd "eye to the telescope" has some awsome funky tracks on it, and i was just wondering if any of you music buffs had a clue if she's going to tour Oz or if she already has??

Dutchie
24-01-2006, 10:18 AM
KT is a legend... There already is a thread on her in this section.

Don't know about when she's going to tour Oz, but I'd definitely be buying a ticket when she comes! :D

Prior to a few weeks ago, I'd never heard of this emerging talent. Now, I can't get enough of her music...

She seems to have this ability to be hautingly beautiful and you find yourself thinking about her lyrical brilliance (where this is particularly obvious), well after the songs over.

If you havn't heard any of her music, I'd recommend 'Other side of the world', and 'Heal Over'.

She was here a couple days ago and I stayed home and took a nap instead. Sooooo unlike me. I'm like a professional concert goer and I didn't even have to get on a plane for the show, I just didn't feel like going. WEIRD! Should I be worried? LOL

Probably cos they used it for the theme music for "So You Think You Can Dance" so everyone got on the band wagon. I agree it's pretty retarted.

Have you guys heard her cover of “Tangled up in Blue”?? It’s worth a listen… oh and “Night Like Peppers” on one of her earlier EP’s is cool as well- kinda reminds me of Portishead. “Refugee” with Oi Va Voi was pretty good too, if you’ve not heard it you can check it out at www.myspace.com/oivavoi . Ok, I’ll stop listing songs now :p

She’s a talented musician indeed… she even managed to make a Missy Elliot song bearable, which is pretty impressive in my book! (no offence intended to any Missy Elliot fans!!)

My favourite KT song is "other side of the world" - truly beautiful. She was absolutely huge in the UK (where I live) in 2005 and then also did well in the USA in 2006. She's kind of a rockier version of Missy Higgins.

I love The Tunstall <3

Seen her live a bunch of times but I think the best has to be the gig she did last January at the Camden Underworld (teeny venue) with just her drummer.

I think Universe & U is probably my favourite song (weird though, cos I always used to skip it when I first got the cd)

yeah, good song, not as good as the last cd´s tunes. what I didnt like at all was the VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCDtJmOBj4g) I rather see her behind a guitar rocking the place instead of dancing

I saw her without having heard anything of her's before. The way she utilizes the massive amount of pedals to over lay looping sounds, like her clapping and thumping her guitar, is mighty clever. That's what I most like about her performances. I don't know if she does it often but she did it on that woohoo song, something about a black horse and her heart or something something.

Alexah2
07-01-2009, 04:22 PM
"Black horse and the cherry tree" http://smileys.sur-la-toile.com/repository/Rires/lol2.gif. In live her Wee B** Pedal, when she says, is very present. But she has 4 musicians with her and 2 chorists for the last tour.
