I thought I would create a thread for photographers and people that use Photoshop or other editing programs.
Im a photographer, but at times I get photos that Im not happy with and want to edit to make them better. I dont know much about photoshop etc, but im wanting to put up some photos and see if people can make them look better.
Then if people can change the photo to make them look better and tell us what they did, then people like me can learn!
What do you all think? Should I put up some of my photos for someone to to see if they can make them look better?
Let me know if people are interested in doing this!
Cheers

hmm it seems like a good idea, not sure how much I'd be able to do but... yeah. What kind of camera do you use?

Ive got a digital SLR Konica Minolta 7D. I will put up some photos! Im thinking more about adjusting colours, contrast, balance, levels and curves.. i dont know how to do those things!
Also - maybe if any suggestions of shooting low light gigs would be ace :)

Ive got a digital SLR Konica Minolta 7D.
ohhh that's a nice camera, it has that anti-shake thing... I've never used it but I bet it's convenient. I have a Canon Rebel G semi-automatic... not digital, it doesn't give me much trouble with lighting mainly because I borrow a huge 400mm f/4 lens, it lets you use a faster shutter speed... also using ISO 400 film or even 800 (tricky, though) gives you a better chance of coming up with a good picture when it's dark... the best advice though is to take a couple of shots of the same frame with different exposure... over/under exposing it (basically, not paying attention to the camera's balance suggestion!) to have different options afterwards...
I'm pretty dumb when it comes to explaining this things though... I had basic photography 5 semesters ago, it's all blurry.

Well im really dumb when it comes to photography. I dont know what the settings Im using are, ive just found settings that work for me by giving me more light and a clearer picture!
I use 800 iso (my camera can go up to 1600). I would hate to see what my photos would look like without the anti-shake.
I want to get a new lens. Something that looks impressive :) Ive got a Konica Minolta Lens 30-210mm (i think)
That does the job pretty much. Ive also got a wide angle lens. The 77mm ones. Its ok, but i find that I dont really use it that much, as I cant zoom at all, therfore its only good for wide angles, hence its name.. lol
I did a shoot for Pete Murray last night, and being a beginner, im not sure what im doing! I have a great camera, but have no idea how to use it! Ive only just ventured from automatic mode to shooting manual.
I know that I have the settings on 4.5 or 4 (I think thats apperature) and 25 or less, if there is low light (shutterspeed).
Does that sound right?

apperture/shutterspeed combinations change depending on the enviroment... I mean... you have to "choose" what you're going to give a priority to... if the subject is moving then well quite obviously the shutterspeed should be higher/faster, to prevent blurring, you should adjust the apperture at the number when your camera's exposure meter marks the balance... If you're shooting for depth and/or your subject isn't moving then the apperture should be the priority, this is tricky... I always forget how it goes, lets see: smaller aperture number/the lens "opens" more - less depth/more light. Bahh!, I'll get back to you on that.
am I making sense here? you probably already know this. It's a good idea to use the Av or Tv mode when you're just starting out with the manual "training"... with those the camera sets either the shutterspeed or the apperture automatically and you only have to deal with the other one... yes.

thanks heaps! Yeah i knew that much! lol. I think its just going to take some practice! I will put some of my photos up shortly. I was going to do it at work, but I dont want to get in trouble, so I will just do it when I get home using crappy dial-up!

I did a little Photoshop training last year. I should be able to give you a few tips.
As for photography... I was better years ago. Very out of practice now 'but will begetting a new camera soon but I can't afford a digital SLR camera at This stage, so I'll have to stick to a try hard compact camera. Oh well, them's the breaks, eh? New SLR camera or bass amp? I think the bass amp. :p

No worries...
I've been playing with some of the photo's I took of my bass with my parents digital camera. Still trying to work out their camera before I take it to the Adelaide gig. I don't think my camera will be available until after the concert. Damn you Canon...
would love to play too, I use photoshop a lot at work and making stuff for LJ....
